Very nice. Is there a link to get it?
Oh my. That's much prettier than R2D2! I would love to have that as well. Haha.
How did you make that?

Lol thats golden.
I assume root is needed?
there is a way to push boot anime tru sdk, but never did it my self.
Hey I'm curious about something. I'm not operating on a rooted device. I would like to be able to put a new boot animation on my device, possibly the R2D2 boot animation w/the sounds and what not. I was told by a Verizon rep that I was speaking to who shall remain nameless, and by speaking I mean through code, because the call was being recording that there is a way to put a new boot animation on your device with just ASTRO by simply renaming certain files and copying and pasting them into the right folders. When I asked him (also in coded message) how he knew all of this he said he knew Steven. I said well I don't know who Steven is, all I hear about is a person named Birdman on these forums and everytime I hear about him I get an image of him in a dark basement with a never ending cup of coffee pounding away on a keyboard and he started laughing and he said Steven's a nice guy. And then he directed me to download SDK on my computer and create a few things.
LOL. So that point of that whole story beside the awesome service that I received, was can someone tell me in detailed instructions how to put a boot animation like this or R2D2 on my phone without having to root and possibly with just ASTRO?
You know just about everything, don't you, my evil twin!
Not even close yet, but definitely trying
And btw, sorry for confusion yesterday, bootanimation zip goes to /data/local, not system/local as I mistakenly said
<--- I ques was not awake yet
I did NOT make it!! Just downloaded "from somewhere", could not even remember smart guy's name, but will find it later. Credit goes to him/her! I do have however d/l file, so PM if anyone wants that file. I can send it your email, till i find the right link.
Here is a download link http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z8NUYQE4
Here is a smart guy who made it i guess http://forum.androidcentral.com/members/tntdroid.html
No no, tsokay! I got it r2d2 up and running fine. I'll try this baby out later.
so how do i use this?
I just installed teh entire r2d2 boot animation in teh data\local directory of the phone's main memory.
I had to change the name of the file to bootanimation.zip and it recognized it. Lemme know how it goes.
Could I use astro for this or no? And where is data..local...?
I don't think so, you need root explorer, as you need to do function that require root access.
data is folder on the root drive of the phone and local is a sub folder of data
so you don't need to unzip it? Just toss it on the sd card?
Believe it or not... correct. You put it on the phone unzipped and it does the rest.
just got RE and worked. thanks.
now before i refund my money can you tell me why i shud keep RE lol
can i do the same thing with titanuum backup? and whats a reason i shud keep RE?
How do you do this without root? I have heard from several users that you don't have to be rooted. Can someone tell me how to do this for a nonrooted user?
