Bootloop Challenge - Android 4.4 lcd Projector

Hi guys,

This is my issue;
I own a Ruishida M3 lcd projector with Android 4.4 installed.
Because I'm interested in development I activated the developer mode and hit "simulate secondary screen mode" to find out what it is about. Concerning android development I am the definition of level novice :)

At that point the device froze so after a minute I shut down and hit the power button again to boot up. Unfortunately I ended up in a bootloop and I have absolutely no idea how to fix this.
Since this is not a smartphone it doesn't have the button combo's to enter save mode or what so ever.

The device does come with a SD card slot and 2 USB ports.

It would be awesome if someone on this website would be able to help me out and guide me through the required steps.

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like the firmware may have corrupted and it needs re-flashing. However their website is only in Chinese. http://www.ruishida.cn/ But here is the firmware images for the M3.
http://bbs.ruishida.cn/thread-3510-1-1.html From what I've seen with Android projectors, you copy the firmware zip to an SD or USB stick and then reboot the device into recovery.

Hi @mikedt,

thanks for your reply!
This is great. Unfortunately their website indeed is in Chinese which is a bit rusty nowadays
As soon as I get back home I will try your suggestion.

What exactly will re-flashing do? Will I need to make more changes after this step or with any luck everything will be back to normal again?

Does the SD or USB need to be in a specific format?

Thanks!

I've been searching for hours for the firmware but I can't find it. Could you be so kind to provide me with a direct download link? You said you read about M3 firmware but all I can find is T models.

Thanks again.

Update:

Luckily I eventually found the shortcut to access save mode which allowed me to disable developer mode and turn of secondary screen mode simulation.

The projector is now booting normal again.

Thanks to those who took the time to read or reply to this tread.
