    Hi guys,

I purchased an X off ebay (coming from Eris, which I rooted), it is rooted. I deleted some bloatware, installed some root only apps, etc.

I don't think there is a custom rom installed, but am not 100% sure, or how I can tell.

    Here's the system info:

    System Version: 2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US
    Model Number: DROIDX
    Android Version: 2.2.1
    Baseband version: BP_C_01.09.07P
    Kernal: 2.6.32.9-g55626e1 w30471@ii93lnxdroid08 #1
    Build Number: VZW
    ERI Version: 5
    PRL Version: 5229

The OTA update failed, I suspect because I deleted some bloat. I was going to follow Method 2 from Official DX Gingerbread 2.3.3 (4.5.596) Release Thread - Something for everyone but it says I need radio version .12P. I'm a little confused, as I'm already on 340 (so I would need to sbf back to it?).

Where I'm at now is I downloaded the 2 part files and installed the Droid2 Bootstrap program. However, I'm not really sure what to do from this point since I don't have .12P.

Any suggestions? Since this phone was rooted when I got it, I'm not familiar with how it was rooted.

    Thanks,
    Eric

Since you didn't root it, your safest bet would be to SBF and start with a clean phone, root it from there, download D2 Bootstrap, then install the files to get to .596.

Let us know if you need help.

You gave to SBF for sure. The two part update will not work on 2.2.1 that has bloat missing its a patch not a full rom.

Like the two above me stated, your best bet is to SBF back to 2.2.1 froyo and update using the two part patch update. In the official Roms and Themes thread I have the SBF, RSD Lite 4.8 and the two part file you need.

If you need any help, feel free to ask

Thanks, I'm going to read over the suggestions and instruction links and see if I can make this happen.

So, I used the Linux method to SBF, worked great. Used Z4 to do a Permanent root, worked great. Got the Droid2 Bootstrap program and did a backup, but it's stuck backing up bootanimation.zip, it's been hanging there for about 10 minutes. I didn't think it should take that long. Should I battery pull and try again? I just sbf'd, so I guess I really don't need a backup now anyway.

I removed battery and started applying parts 1 and 2. Part 1 worked fine, but installation keeps aborting on part 2, it just says '(bad)'. While still in recovery I was able to mount my sdcard and downloaded part 2 again from a different mirror. Same thing. So now I'm stuck in recovery.

    Any ideas?

Make sure that you have the full 2.3.340 sbf file. Seems like you may be trying to update from something other than that exact file that you can download from Team Black Hat.

Update: I had to sbf again because of the Part II corruption. I used RSDLite, worked like a charm. I then used the D2 Bootstrap to install both files. Something I did extra that I read about in the other forum was to clear cache 3 times and clear data 3 times before installing both parts. Not sure what that was all about. Anyway I'm up and running GB and rooted, so all is good with the world.

    Thanks everyone for your help.
