Bought new 3G tablet but it only connects in 4G

I Have just purchased a Xgody 10 inch Android tablet. It was sold as a 3G device. However it always tries to connect at my home location as a 4G device. I have no 4G service in my location. If I travel to a location nearer the city the tablet connects in 4G mode and works great. I have tried it with multiple different sim cards (all of work great in my smart phones in 3G mode at my home location) but with no luck. I have gone into settings and set everything I can find to 3G but still wants to work in 4 G. Anybody got any ideas of whats wrong.........or a cure.

Are you in the US or Canada, and who's your carrier? Because these Xgody devices don't have many of the bands and modes used in North America.
