brand new to rootland: can i EASILY update to gingerbread??

hi.

i am now froyo 2.2, and have an unrooted samsung captivate, and plan to get the galaxy s2 ATTAIN when it comes out with dual processors, and skip the samsung INFUSE.

that said, should i update to gingerbread, or just stay put until the galaxy s2 comes out.

i am NOT a root expert, i do not want to be a root expert, i do not do roms, non-market apps, and only rooted to murder the bloatware, which was a blast and worth it.

other than that, i do not do anything special with being rooted, NOR do i want to, but i am thinking why not get gingerbread.

also, i heard of a trick to log into samsung, and lie and put down on their web page you are from canada to get newer updates, but i have not researched this.

thanks for reading and helping..

there is stock 2.3.4 out now for the captivate by way of 1-click odin, but it flashes bootloaders so if anything goes wrong in the very short amount of time it takes to flash the bootloaders(less than a second) then you will be hard bricked. but you dont even need to be rooted to use the one click. if interested you can read the thread on xda, very simple though. put phone in download mode and press start

well, since i don't know how to unroot, or unbrick, i think i will not get gingerbread, and just wait for the new samsung galaxy 2 / ATTAIN from at&t.

thanks for the reply!
