Simple question, does a bright background use more battery than a dark background?

Black background = no led power consumption

White background = led on and consumption of power increases as brightness does.

This is one reason I rooted my phone and ROM'ed it to use inverted apps. All my Google apps now have dark, black screens with light colored text. Looks better IMO.
And I was able to acheive 5 hours of on screen time, with very light use, and always between 3 and 4 hours of onscreen with moderate to slightly heavy use. Black screens help, for sure.
