How can you disable the light sensor as it is causing problems. I have set the brightness to low but the brightness still changes?

Although there's no specific auto brightness setting, the phone does adjust the brightness. I think the brightness level is simply the maximum it can ever go to, which is logical but not made particularly clear.

I have set my brightness at about 3/4, which just about keeps it readable outdoors (but not in bright sunlight, which seems to have disappeared here in London now!).
