Help Browse my EVO Internal Phone Memory?

Does anyone know how to browse the internal phone memory to see what is taking up all the space?

I've had my EVO since November '10, and have recently started getting the Gmail sync errors due to my phone storage space getting low. I have ran thru each and every app on my phone and deleted the cache and moved it to the SD card if possible, but still can't get enough room cleared. My ? is, it's got 1gb of memory there, and I have no idea what is taking up all the space. I use Astro to view my SD files, and it has that nifty report showing what is taking up the most amount of space, but unfortunately it can't run that report on my internal memory.

Other than using the built in "manage applications" you can not view internal memory details without root access.

have you tried

menu.settings.applications.manage.all find gmail and clear cache, then clear data ..then reboot

sometimes it also helps to clear cache and data for google services framework I think it is called...then reboot

and of course....there is the good ole hard reset if all else fails

I took a look at my internal memory before performing this (I've done it before in the past, but never paid attention to the #s). Before starting, my available internal space is a pathetically small 23.95mb. Gmail has 480kb of data and 0 in cache. Cleared the data. Google services Framework has 152kb of data and 0 cache. Cleared the data. Went back to look at the available memory, and it had grown to 24.58mb. However (funny part here), now I can't access any of my email because my internal storage is still too low, and it won't sync.

It really stinks that I can't at least SEE what it taking up all the space without having to go into each app individually. Granted, after sorting by space in the All Apps section, there is NO WAY the apps I have are taking up even 150mb, much less the 60% of internal storage after considering the android system.

For what it's worth, the EVO only allows 358MB of the 1GB ROM for user by the user. The rest is allocated to the phone for the OS/HTC Sense. To 1GB ROM = 666MB for system + 358MB for user.

Yay for an awesome reverse math lesson!

My bad... I was *thinking* the system was what took up 60%-ish, but I typed the opposite.

Still, there is 358mb of something inside my phone that I can't easily manage, and that sucks.....

I use app2sd or zd box to see what is taking up all the space. You can also use each app to move any apps to your sd card, that they system will allow.
