Help Browser freezes up constantly

My browser keeps freezing up, and the only way to get it to work again seems to be to reboot the phone. This happens at least a couple times a day, sometimes many times a day.

I can tell at these times that there is an internet connection -- when there is no connection, it simply says there is no connection and doesn't try to load a page. However, when it crashes on me, it starts to load a page, the yellow progress/status bar goes up to about halfway, then it just stops there and searches for infinity... It doesn't matter if I hit "Stop", or "Refresh", or load a new page, or switch to "Airplane" setting and back -- it doesn't matter what I do, once it gets to this point, it never finds the internet again until I turn the phone off and then on again.

It seems to happen more often when I've lost a signal, then gotten it back again recently, such as when I go on the subway, and then come to ground level again.

I use the internet quite a bit on my phone, so this is exceptionally annoying -- this will almost certainly cause me to abandon Droids forever after this phone, but let me know if any of you have any idea how to fix this. Thanks!

Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Especially tips on how to restore browser function without having to reboot the phone...

Thanks!

Are you using a task killer or anti virus of any sort? My first thought would be to go into manage applications and clear the cache for your browser. You'll keep your bookmarks, but lose your browsing history.

Thanks for the suggestion! Not using any task killer -- I do have the "Lookout" app, which has anti-virus properties, but this problem pre-dated installing this app.

I cleared the cache, and I'll see how that goes... Cache had about 7 MB in it, is this a large amount?

Thanks again! Any other suggestions welcome...
