I'm looking for a budget Android phone which I will primarily want to use to stream video online and send it to my big TV via a HDMI cable, so performance will be more important than screen size and quality, storage space etc.

Could anyone recommend a budget Android phone for this?

Hopefully under £100. The Moto G seems to fall into that category although I had one of those a while back and it ended up slowing down quite a lot.

You might be better off with a used device. You should definitely look into it.
    Swappa/UK

    I'm assuming UK.

Thanks, sounds like a good idea. My only concern with buying used is that Androids tend to slow down when I've owned them in the past, although that tended to be when opening/closing apps etc rather than streaming video.

I take it a phone would be a better option than a tablet? There are some cheap tablets around now although I guess you would be paying more for the bigger screen size.

Most cheap tablets were manufactured on the fly by start up companies in China. There is little support if any. I would avoid if possible. If you go with a legacy device like a Nexus. Even if the manufacturer ends support, there is plenty available from the Android Development community, and Android enthusiasts as a whole.
If you have a problem with an inexpensive off-brand device and come here looking for help, you might get a little. More likely the response would be, "that's what you get for buying cheap". Come here with problems with a Nexus, we will be lining up to help. :D
    Make sense?

I own a Nexus 7 (2013) for watching videos. Love it. Cost $125. It is running MM now and developers will likely bring it up to Nougat before long.

Thanks, the Nexus 7 2013 looks good, and only £70-£90 pre owned. Technically I don't need s tablet because I would stream to my big TV, but I'm sure there would be other uses to having a tablet rather than a phone. Think I'll do some research on the Nexus.

There is a little more you need to know before purchasing a Nexus. It's like an old MG. Brilliant but needs to be taken care of properly. Let me or anyone know.
