Lost my phone this morning. Found it using Google Latitude and a shovel.... Turns out that I dropped it in the snow in this crazy storm moving through Missouri. The parking lot where I was when I dropped it had been plowed after I left and all the snow pushed to a corner. I found the DX at the bottom of the pile in one piece and still running like a champ. Man, I love this phone.

There are 'Find Me' apps where you can activate your GPS by calling your phone and typing in a code.

Pretty friggin neat!

Yeah these type of apps are simply amazing! I have one that can also lock the phone or erase all data in case someone else has it. I can also see all the stats like how much charge is left, etc. from my computer as well. I love technology

Same. Just genius to be able to find or destroy (well, remote wipe it) your phone as required.

Lookout, but there are many (Wavesecure, etc). I just liked that Lookout doesn't rely on text messaging for activation. Mind you, guaranteed we'll see dozens of posters favoring their own options.

Just grabbed lookout after reading this. Locating the missing phone feature sounds like something that should just plain be built in.

Candidly, it is built in, sort of. It's called Latitude and it's free if you activate it. The concern from 'some' users as to why it's not activated out of the box is privacy concerns.

We do use latitude quite a bit. Its just one of those "smart" features they should advertise more.

Our entire android smartphone experience has been liek that though...
