He's really done it this time. I don't know how but my friend broke the glass on his phone, probably by dropping it, though he refuses to say. It already had chips around the corners. Now there are multiple cracks on the lower screen, especially the left. It almost seems as if it could be dangerous to use, but I guess it doesn't affect anything else. What can we do to fix it?

Yes, although I have yet to break a screen unintentionally, the majority of my aquaintences that have had a glass screen protector installed.
This will usually break before the screen does, and is replaceable.
Also, if the screen does get cracked or broken, the screen protector will often keep the screen together for quite some time.
