Now that the Nexus is around 3 months old (I think it came out in Nov.) do I go with it or is it to old? Should I wait a few months to see what is coming out?

Costco has it for 219.00 with mail-in free extended battery pack and I thought that was a good deal, unless there are some good rumors about something coming out soon.

    Thanks
    Ron

You could wait and see what MWC has to offer later this month, but like Stenzor said, always something better around the corner.

Also anything showcased at MWC most likely has several months until it is actually released.

Yep. Remember the whole "Bionic" fiasco? (Granted, that was CES, but still).

To the OP - I love my GNex to death and it also recently was rated the best among the 5 best Android phones (some website, can't remember). It's a great phone to be sure. To be honest though, you should post this in a general forum so more people can chime in with different phones if you want a better sampling...

I think it's still the phone to get. It's dual core, so it has enough under the hood to stay fast for a long time. And it's the "Nexus" device, so it will always have the most recent version of ICS.

I figure it's the phone that Google employees probably carry, so it's bound to be constantly optimized and working well. Getting this phone now and you're hopefully on the "Nexus cycle," about due for an upgrade when the next Nexus comes out. If you wait, you'll get off-kilter.

I'm in a position to wait it out since I have a recent phone. I had a G Nex, exchanged it and was gonna get it again at some point. I still might get it.

If you do have a Droid...reading your info to the left....the G Nex will be an amazing phone for the most part. Of course something coming out later this year will be even greater for the most part. But...like was posted before....there is always something better coming out. Its one reason why I switched to a family plan...lol. Those that can afford it... it may be worth doing. That and some folks think I'm a big ole pimp with 3 phone numbers...LOL!! I have an old phone on my line that has an upgrade available right now..

Depends on what you have now....what your wants n needs are.

my vote is to get the Nexus

If not keep this same thread going and 3 months from now in the title replace the word "nexus" with whatever cool device is out at that time.

I have used a LOT of different smartphones in the last five years, and the GN is the first one that doesn't have me desiring a new handset within a few days. I don't know what it is; there is just something different about this phone, and I don't think it's just ICS.

Regardless, as others have said there will always be something newer, but since I know people who still use the original Nexus, I am hoping I will be satisfied for a long time as well.

    Good luck on your search!

There will be new quad core phones from HTC, LG, Motorola announced at MWC. And Samsung will hold own press event for SGSIII after MWC. But they won't be available on verizon until Q3 even if verizon gets them at all.

It really depends on how long you are willing to wait with your current phone. Nexus at such a nice deal on Costco is steal in my opinion. Once you get to enjoy Nexus, it's hard to go back to skinned GB phone unless you got a lemon.

I've had a lot of phones including the razr and now the gnex and the nexus is by far my favorite, so i would say if you want a phone now, get the nexus. If you have a somewhat current phone, especially if it's 4g (assuming you have it in your area,) i think the galaxy s III would be the phone to wait for. Off course Verizon won't get it for some time though..

I haven't seen any leaks for a phone that gives the Galaxy Nexus a run for its money. Add that to the fact that more recently released phones still don't have ICS (and don't even have a solid timeframe to get the update), the Galaxy Nexus remains king. Get it. You won't be disappointed.

Getting my nexus over the next few days. Cannot do skinned android anymore. My Inspire 4G has held up nicely over the year, but I cannot do the resource hog Sense anymore, or touchwiz, blur, and whatever other skins come on Android devices. Pure, bone stock vanilla from here on out. I haven't been enticed by any other phones coming soon since the Galaxy nexus released.

this device is absolutely boss!! the only knock (for me) is that the signal/call quality isn't as good as it could be (it's still pretty darn good, tho). but, i'm rooted and unlocked, so i can easily flash the different radios out there, and that seems to have helped.

the only thing that would make me wait would be the rumor that "new" GNexes are going to start coming out with the OMAP 4470 chip. but, i haven't heard much more about that, nor have i heard any sort of timeline. and, recent rumors would indicate that those will only be 16gb, and there won't be any more 32gb models.

this thing is fast, smooth, and sweet! i bought mine day one as soon as VZW opened. and after having it for 3 months, and seeing the phones that have come out since and rumors of the phones that may be coming out, i'm still happy i got the GNex.

Seeing benchmarks of the new Snapdragon Krait....

AnandTech - Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (Krait) Performance Preview - 1.5 GHz MSM8960 MDP and Adreno 225 Benchmarks

I am so glad I have an upgrade available. If not for that...but other 2nd gen dual cores or even quad cores.

Its also at 28nm..that nm number gets lower it helps with battery life. I think most current dual cores are at 45nm or 40nm?

I think most folks shoulda snatched up a phone last year to be honest. Wait much longer and you will start running into phones with better tech: 28nm, 2nd gen dual core, quad core, etc. The Krait is also supposed to be better on LTE battery life IIRC: 2nd gen LTE chips.

Whatever one decided to do...decide by next month...lol.

I think if I hadn't bought by now I'd be inclined to wait a tad longer. The price has been elevated for some time now. Feels like a $100 price drop is very close but that's just my gut talking. I'd get the gnex no doubt, I'm just saying give it 1 to 2 weeks and see what shakes.

I say get itt because you're guaranteed all iterations of ICS and the next version of Android. Plus there's a huge dev community that will most likely be keeping this thing alive for quite some time.

I can honestly say the Gnex is the best phone I have ever had...or played with. My wife has a Bionic and my Brother-in-law has a Tbolt. The Gnex is the best by far. The fact that it is a "pure" Google phone is one of the biggest draws...No Motoblur, HTC Sense or Touchwiz. ICS is amazing and this phone is only about 3 months old....so there are still growing pains but there are less problems with this phone then I had with my Droid X at month 15. As for waiting.....there will always be something better. You need to decide if you can live 2 years with the Gnex or is there something coming out this year that you just can't live without. Thats the problem with technology.....there is always something newer lol. I don't regret my decision with the Gnex.....but good luck to you with whatever you decide!!!!
