People keep lamenting android's slow and 2nd class citizen-esque game development.

But when a great, and highly polished, game like Sprinkle comes along - iOS users lord all over android users in sales.

Sprinkle sold over 100,000 copies in 4 days - but android market only says 5000-10000 installs...therefore android users constitute ~8% of total sales. For shame!

I wanted this game however Sprinkle is only available for NVIDIA Tegra powered devices running Android 2.3 or greater. what a shame...

That is an unfortunate limitation alright. But there are definately more than 10,000 Tegra devices in the wild!

I would buy it if I had any use of it... As long as it's Tegra exckusive, I, and millions of Android users with me, can't play it.

When or if a proper release happens, I will buy it.

Yeah, I have an Evo 3D so no Tegra, no Sprinkle. I wonder how much these companies get from Nvidia to be Tegra exclusive. It seems like a shortsighted business plan since the Tegra chipset is only in around 10 percent of Android devices. I'm sure I could see it on the market if I used Chainfire but I'll pass.

    Sprinkle FAQ

Q: I have a non-Tegra Android device, will you support my device in the future?

A: We are looking into supporting more Android hardware. It's fairly complex due to the large amount of different devices out there. We will post updates about supported devices as soon as they appear!

    Q: Why Tegra 2?

A: Tegra 2 is a powerful chip present in many of the latest devices. Focusing on a specific chip allowed us to test and optimize the game for the best possible performance without a postponed release for Android devices compared to iOS. We have received help with hardware and testing from NVIDIA, but we have not accepted any cash to keep it Tegra exclusive.

    Even 100,000 is nothing compared to the 12 million+ Galaxy S and 6 million+ Galaxy S II.

I'm sure their sales will be fantastic, clearly Tegra 2 are the best selling devices, why else would they choose them.

EDIT: Game is working with Chainfire 3D on a number of devices, some single core phones as well so this does NOT require a dual core phone.

How are Tegra 2 the best selling devices when they make up around 10 percent of Android devices? None of the Galaxy S or Galaxy S2 run Tegra, neither do any of the new dual core HTC devices.

I'm rooted and running Kushdecks ROM on my Evo 3D but I do not feel like firing up Chainfire just to play Sprinkle. I have other games to play that I paid for that did not require a work-a-round.

Shame on Sprinkle makers for not making this available to more than 80-90% of the Android population. Bad move!!! If I wanted to be held hostage I would have bought an iPhone. Was really looking forward to this one after C. Chavez hyped it up, but can't even get it. BS man!!!

As I have CM7.1 on my Optimus 2X, I am qualified to say: it's fantastic.

People that are lamenting not having a Tegra phone, it can still work, just use Chainfire3D with it.

True I could use Chainfire, I guess I would just rather show support for more open minded developers.

I know it is a slippery slope: support the game in hopes more and better games come to Android, or not support it because they chose such a limited venue to release their game. I currently am in the middle of a couple of games I paid for that I want to finish so I am not wanting to support this developer by doing a work-a-round to bend my phone that is more than hardware capable of playing the game just because they chose such a limited platform from the get go. Maybe that is my lose and I am being stubborn but I am OK with that.

Could you elaborate? Are you referring to overcoming the Tegra limitation by use of third-party software e.g. Chainfires's graphics wrapper program?

As I've already said, this is working with Chainfire 3D on many devices, but not all unfortunately, but then that's what refunds are for. ;)

If it wasn't for Nvidia this game would likely never have been made for Android. It's limited to Tegra devices because Nvidia paid the developer to make it for them.

I tried to download Sprinkle with Chainfire3D, but it isn't even listed in the market.
I can find all other Tegra games on the Nexus with the Market Fix, but not Sprinkle.
    Not even direct links work.
I think they preselected the compatible devices, they didn't just limit it to Tegra Hardware.

Even with chainfire it doesn't work on my sensation. Although it works on my galaxy tab 10.1 there are so many reasons this app doesn't have that many installs.

It's tegra exclusive, it's android 2.3 or higher, needs a decent android device which limits it even more, and add the fact that it's 1.99 over 99 cents and the market of people that are going to buy it shrink by quite a bit.
