Would it be a good idea to buy today due to the release of the phone tomorrow?
It's not a BAD idea, but you might be disappointed if you think it's going to jump as a result of the release.
There's nothing really new happening for Sprint business-wise tomorrow. If you buy in anticipation of a good quarter for them due to a (doubtfully) enormous successful EVO release which brings in lots of new profits, then you'd be looking forward to their next quarter, not the release date tomorrow.
I was thinking about buying some Sprint stock as well ...
It's funny you mentioned this. I bought 270 shares @ $3.67 on March 11th. I sold it all May 24th @ $4.86.
I could have bought cheaper and held out til it hit 5 a couple days later but I figured hey, i got my EVO for free now.
S is still a good investment now imho. Zecco FTW.
It's been going down so far today, was going to buy some last night, glad I waited LOL The stock is the highest it's been in awhile so probably not the best time to buy.
I think Sprint is a good buy right now. Depending on what paper/blog you read the analysts say that Sprint stock will hit $6-$8, but that will probably take some time. It will not happen tomorrow.
I bought some, so at the very least everyone should join in my hopefully celebration when it reaches 8.00
Buy Apple Stock instead lol.
Yes, it will likely hit mid 6 by years end.
Also, you may want to watch CLWR. That's who actually runs the 4G network. Im certain Sprint is the majority holder and iirc owns over 50%.
With ATT and VZ both doing away with unlimited data plans and sprint touting they have unlimited 4g data plan we are going to see tons of switch over customers who simply want unlimited data. Sprints stock is inline for the number of customers they serve. If the customer base increases the stock "should" rise. I bought 200 shares of S this morning on that bet.
I bought last month at $4.28. Sprint went in the tank after buying Nextel and they lost a lot of subscribers due to customer service issues. They have addressed the service issue and the turnover rate has slowed. I bought on speculation that Evo will be the launching pad for a second life for Sprint. Lots of speculation that it will climb to $6 or more in the near future, but anything above that will depend on how Sprint builds on the momentum from Evo and how the market responds to 4G.
like buttholes, everyones got one. Sprint needs evo to be the iphone killer to move the stock. Do you think it will be?
I don't think the 4G and the Evo will have that much of an impact on Sprint's business. I hope it does, but I'm not expecting it. It's no iPhone. Not saying it's not as good, it's just not going to be as popular. I'll be real surprised to be wrong. As a previous poster said, you can't go too wrong with some Apple. Sprint's been going downhill for quite a while. They really blew it with the Palm Pre. I don't know what they're really doing wrong. Sprint has actually been my favorite carrier, but I'm not loyal, I go where the phone I want is, sometimes every year. I'm going to try this Evo out, but if the 4G is spotty, or I don't like the interface I'll drop it like an AT&T call.
If you thing the EVO will save sprint alone, thats laughable. S showed better than expected 1st quarter returns. Most analyst have improved their ranking of S. Several have switched from hold to buy (after bumping it up from sell to hold 4th quarter '09). S need to show substantial improvement buy the end of the year or S will fall. S is #3 of the top 3 btw.
Yes, everyones got one. I told you what I did, I sold. I still think it will be mid 6 by years end.
where is a good place to buy some stocks? you guys got me interested.
only go to zecco if you are ok with customer service who doesnt know what their doing.. thinkorswim all the way!
Evo hype is already priced into the stock--it hit a 6-month high last week. And what will happen when the phone is released and everyone's SD card craps out?
I just bought like 90 shares.. setting and forgetting. May pump more into it..may not. I'll see what happens to it by year's end.
Been watching this stock and it's dropping fast since this morning, I would definitely wait until tommorow or Monday to see if it's going to stabilize, you are just throwing money away if you buy right now.
I'd say if the stock drops to around 4.60 a a share, I would gobble it up in a hurry. Lots of financials out there have been upgrading Sprint's stock to a buy -strong buy right now and I believe tomorrow it might spike upwards to around 5.50 a share for a short period of time.
This was just published this morning about the stocks chances. WEEEEEEEEEE

I'm actually not allowed to comment on whether to buy it or not. However, this chart shows an interesting trend. Notice the price today compared to the price on Sprint's last major launch (Palm Pre)?

Draw your own conclusions from there.
(BTW, I do not own S or anything related to it)
Here's some news from StreetInsider.

Sprint stock jumped about 20% in two days some time last week or the week before. I was thinking some of that was due to the evo 4g, but I could be wrong.
