Hey guys, sorry if this isn't in the correct section of the forum.

I'm in the UK and if I buy the asus transformer prime from an american online retailer will I be able to get updates to ics, access the market etc?

Any help is much appreciated! :)

As long as it isn't a carrier locked device you should still be able to get updates for it. I have a Cowon D3 mp3 player and the updates for it are region specific but when I update it I can choose either the American version, EU version, or Korean version. They each are slightly different based on local laws (i.e. the EU version's volume is lower than the American version and the Korean version includes things that are specific for Korea)
