Hey all, I'm Alex, and I'm new to the forums. I've been using this iPhone 3GS for over 2 years now (and boy is it boring). I'm really into techy/geeky stuff and I'm loving what I've been hearing about the Android OS. Unfortunately, I'm stuck on AT&T (super cheap family plan) so I'm looking there for a phone. Can anyone recommend one, or one coming out that I should wait for?

-I like the idea of stock Android for faster updates, but it's not necessary.
-I'd like a 4G phone because I'm going to college in Milwaukee where there is HSPA+.
-I'd say a 4.3" screen is my max.
-My budget is about $200, but I'll be signing a 2 year contract.
-I'd really like something that won't be entirely outdated within a month.
-I'm willing to wait for upcoming phones, but I'd like to get it this year.

Most of all, I just can't wait to get away from this iPhone. It was a cool first smartphone but no customization is killing me.

    Thanks!
    Alex

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is expected to be coming soon to AT&T, there is an announcement event from Samsung scheduled on Aug 29th, so we'll know more details then. The Infuse 4G and the Atrix 4G are also phones you can look at if you'd rather pass on waiting for the GS2. There probably is other phones coming, those are just the ones I know of right now for AT&T.

Okay, I'll take a look at those. I have read that the Atrix is pretty decent with Gingerbread, but I really don't know THAT much about the software. I'll keep an eye out for the Galaxy S2 as well. Thank you!

Atrix is a nice phone with decent battery life.

Moto Atrix should definitely be in your watch-list , also Galaxy S II . Both are brilliantly fast phones

I'm also interested in switching over from my iPhone 3GS to an Android phone -- in addition to the Atrix, I'm also looking at the Samsung Captivate and HTC Inspire. How do these phones stack up to one another? My needs are similar to Alex's, but (I think) I can do without 4G if necessary.
