I had to get rid of Go SMS Pro because I couldn't receive pictures by anyone, with any type of phone, on any network, including my own.

Yes, I had data turned on, I had stable internet access to my phone.

I factory reset and was about to go get a replacement ordered when I thought of that one idea I thought I would try first.

I had no better luck with Handcent, so it's all stock for now until I find another app.

Does anyone has a good suggestion for a solid, reliable text app with the type of choices that GO SMS gives you?

Give pansi sms a try. Also check to see if Verizon has added block mms to your account.

This doesn't answer your question, but curious about the issues you had with GoSMS Pro. I've used it ever since I got the S3 and have not had an issue receiving pics - in fact, got several today. You say you tried Handcent and it didn't work either. Makes me think it's not GoSMS Pro but something else that is causing the issue.

I was unable to receive pictures with the stock app but GoSMSpro has been working fine since I downloaded it months ago.

If none of the apps, including stock will work, I also think it is something else and I would call your carrier. My Mom has never been able to get pictures on her phone either, and she knows all she has to do is call telus and she can't be bothered, so she asks me to email them and I just don't bother sending her pictures LOL

I've been having a certain glitch with GoSMS Pro since I got it and am coming close to uninstalling. Just wondering if anyone else experiences it and what I can do about it:

Whenever I send a pic MMS (and sometimes just a text), the pic or text reinserts itself back into a new text after I hit send so I have to delete it before I send the next message. If I don't delete it right away and simply exit, it saves as draft and I must delete it later before sending a new message.

I have this same issue. It's never been able to receive picture messages for me. If i get one, I just open the default messaging app and do it from there. I don't do a lot of picture messaging so it works for me.

I've dropped Go SMS as well. It would often freeze/lag on my phone, the "animations" around Christmas/Halloween were very annoying, multiple emails to the dev's went unanswered.

I switched to Chomp and like it so far.

I think I'll give Chomp a try... does it support emoji?

Sorry guys, I was actually incorrect about the source of my problem. It was actually my fault. I didn't realize that if I "disable" the stock text app, that this would happen. It didn't used to do that. I figured, if I wasn't gonna use it, why stop at turning off notifications (so I don't get TWO notifications for new messages, you know), so I would disable it. I figured this out when I used Chomp and was able to make it work or not, depending on if I had the stock one enabled or not.

Moral of the story? DO NOT disable ANY system apps. Simply don't use them. With the stock text app not being used, but being enabled, I am able to receive everything sent to me.

    Don't make my mistake!

Congrats on finding the root of the problem. You might want to edit the opening post of this thread so that any first readers don't have to read throught the whole thread to find the solution. Just a thought.
