Calendar Sync Witrh Google CAlendar

My Sprint EVO 4G will not sync its calendar with my Google calendar. I have the correct gmail account on the device, I can download gmail messages and get market apps with no problem. I have the right boxes checked as per the directions but I still cannot send calendar events to or from the device.

I know that it is probably something really simple but after a few hours of fighting it I thought I would pose the problem to people smarter than me.

In settings, accounts, when you click on your google account, do you see sync with contacts, gmail, calendar, music... or whatever? Is your "auto-sync" checked? If not you need to click on calendar and manually sync it.
