I'm using windows calendar (on Vista), and want to keep using an offline/non-cloud calendar that I can sync with my new Galaxy note II. I've installed Samsung Kies, but it can't see my calender, so won't sync the information. Can anyone help?

Don't know about Kies, but a lot of sync tools can only see Outlook calendars rather than Windows Calendars.

You may have more luck with a 3rd party sync tool ..

I would switch to Outlook, but the regular windows calendar is free. I don't want to have to pay for outlook, just to be able to sync my calendar.

Ever consider using Google calendar, which is also free?

Using Windows Vista and Kies; both FAIL in oh so many ways. I'd agree with Puppa and perhaps start using Google Calendar. It's free and, while it is cloud based, it's a lot more simpler than using either Vista or Kies. I think in the long run, it'll be better and cause a lot less stress/headaches. I use Google calendar myself and have no issues with it. Out of curiosity, why are you not looking to use any cloud based calendars?

I'm not using google calendar as I don't want my personal information on the internet or the cloud. My calendar id used for business, so I have details I want to keep private. I used the google calendar briefly a few years back, and I don;t know it was something I did in the settings, but the information seemed to be 'public' and I've never felt confident about using google calendar since then.
