I know I've seen a setting on the phone itself - on your home screen go for the following:

menu==>settings==>call settings==>(scroll down to) Blacklist (and add numbers)

Incoming calls in the blacklist will be rejected... not sure if this means that incoming calls will be rejected and go to the answerphone (if you have it turned on) or if it means they will just be rejected.

Sure I've seen something else on the phone - I'll have another look in a bit and get back to you (unless someone else get's there first)!

EDIT - that will, at least, deal with the phone calls for you! :)

Something like this should do it. But if you search for SMS Blocker on the market website, you get loads of options.

Hi, I have the Samsung Moment and I need to block a number from calls and messaging. I followed what DURX stated but I don't see a blacklist in my call settings. Are there any other options? Thanks

    Hi LMBrown!

Each phone is slightly different - I was talking about a (rooted) Desire HD (running CM7). You may get a better answer from others that have your phone in the sub-forum for your device Samsung Moment - Android Forums

    Hope this helps!

    Welcome to the forums hamed!

What exactly do you mean, unregistered? Each phone has a number, so you should be able to block calls from any number

I downloaded "easy filter" a free app on market couple of weeks ago to replace previous app "call blocker"

Seems to be just the job - has a good range of block settings for calls and SMS.

Even supplies a reply on the SMS when blocking which you can customise, I've adapted the "Your message will not reach the intended recipient"

With calls you can set it to in one of three hang up mode, end call, turn silence, or once connected.

Also keeps the log of who / when called and blocked, with easy option to restore the call or SMS number blocked to your own address book if its someone you want.

Also lets you block either calls or messages or both and has a special filter to just block unknown ID calls

Touch wood, it hasn't caused any grief with power usage. I have a HTC desire HD on 3 contract.

Fair enough... I would have said that was a withheld number though, not unregistered... Can't really help on that one, as I've not had people calling me from withheld numbers... can't you just ignore withheld numbers or speak to your phone provider and ask them to block calls from withheld numbers?!?

Iirc, there's an option somewhere in call settings to block withheld numbers. Either in the advanced or Call Barring submenus.
