Does anyone have or have had issues using a call block app with the Esteem? I installed Extreme Call Blocker right after I bought my phone. Over the past few days it quit working. I emailed the developer and he says it is a bug in the phone and not the app. Meaning, it does not block calls anymore because the phone is not sending the correct information to the app. Instead, now it just auto answers...terrific. I have not updated my phone, which is what the developer thought I did and might have caused this. Anyone know how to fix this?

ok. first of all, if your phone is fine i recommend you not to update your phone at all (well, until someone releases a root).

Now, try uninstalling the application "call blocker" and reinstall it again. Then go to manage application; in settings > application > manage application > and look for dialer (make sure you are in the "show all tab".) and clear all data and cache..

    hope it helps!.

I tried that and didn't help. I even tried two other call blocking apps and neither of the two block anything. I'm starting to believe what the guy told me. He said it was a common problem with LG phones. I have also read other stories of the same issue with the Optimus.

It's my understanding that LG likes to route certain functions of the phone through other apps on the phone. That may be what's preventing the call blockers from blocking anything.

I use Root Call Blocker Pro. It hangs up on the caller before the phone even rings.

Only problem is it doesn't have the spammer database that Mr. Number has, so I use both.

Mr. Number warns me if a caller is probably spam -- from an online database wiki -- and that first time it goes to my voicemail (except they never seem to want to leave a message). Then, I add that number to my Root Call Blocker Pro app, and that number never calls me again! :D

I would use Mr. Number exclusively but with the version of Gingerbread we have, Mr. Number can't "pick up and hang up" like it could on my LG Optimus. It can only send to voicemail on the LG Esteem.

Root Call Blocker Pro blocks calls from even completing. It disconnects before the phone call even completes and rings. But you have to be rooted for it to work. You can also block "private numbers" (those who don't show their Caller ID).

Root Call Blocker Pro is a paid app, but for me it's worth it. Mr. Number is free and has the spammer database, but it doesn't work on our Esteem the way that I would like. So, I use both.

Mr Number is an app I tried earlier today, it doesn't work on my phone. What I'm needing to know is what caused the problem and how to fix it. The app was working perfectly for three weeks. Nobody else with an Esteem has had this problem? I'm only irritated with this because I hate losers that block their phone number and like to waste my time. Guess I just thought I was lucky not to have the problems others have been complaining about.

I have the same problems on a rooted or non-rooted esteem. LG is obviously crap, once again. I had no problems with Optimuson this matter.

Yeah, this is annoying. I reported my issue with LG, and so far they tell me I need to run the latest update which I don't want to do. I haven't had the problems other people have been complaining about. I just want to know what caused my issue and how to correct it. I've only had my phone for a month and have been procrastinating to root it, but what's the point if I have to run this update

Well, I've been using Extreme Call Blocker v25.2 for a while and it works good for me (Samsun Admire and LG Esteem), blocks about 98% of the unwanted calls. I think that version it's good so yesterday I went ahead and updated to v27.5 through Android Market, hopefully, this version can hold as good as v25.2 if not I will revert back to v25.2. Remember, that E. Call Blocker has an option on it's settings just for LG and Samsun phones that you must enable. My phones have original firmware (not firmware updates) and they are rooted.

    Version 25.9 instead of 25.2

Well the update to 27.5 did not go well. It's blocking everything and again the developer said to me that is a bug in the firmware update but my phone has the original firmware. And to put the ice on the cake, I downgraded to 25.9 and now does not work either. Disappointed event to say the list $5.99 wasted.

I notice on Android market two reviewers:
    elizabeth on December 23, 2011 (Version 27.5) 5 STARS
Great app does what it says
    Amy on November 8, 2011 (Version 26.8) 5 STARS
    Love it. Phyco ex stopper!

The reviewer Gustavo is me. 1 STAR

I have mine since November 5, 2011. It has the original firmware MS910ZVB no updates and works great, now when I first installed Extreme Call Blocker v25.9 it worked very well with unrooted phone, then I rooted the phone and still ECB 25.9 was working. Then while trying to installed from my computer a new PRL an error occur in the communication computer to phone and the phone became unusable for 4G so I was ready to replace it with a new one from MetrePCS so I unrooted the phone and uninstalled all applications I had installed including the ones that use root and of course superuser, applied a factory reset and the phone became again original at this point the phone was working again with 4G and all so I installed again ECB v25.9 before rooting the phone still working great then rooted the phone and again working great and installed the rest of the applications I was using before. Yesterday, I updated ECB to 27.5 but with the phone still rooted and didn

Root Call Blocker Pro still works great for me on my Esteem.

Any numbers I tell it to block, I never even get the call.
