Hey! I am currently stuck between getting the One or S4. Aside from the camera, I believe that the One is the better device. However, I am a photographer, and while I know that neither device can replace my DSLR, I am looking for the one that takes the best quick photos on the go. I've looked at a countless comparisons, but none really answer all my questions. It would be great if you guys could help me decide purely on which has a better camera. I have setup a little rubric to help you out.

Rate on a scale of 1-5 for each phone in each sub category, please.

    Pictures:
    -Detail
    -Clarity
    -Exposure
    -Colors
    -Features
    -Stabilization
    -Overall

    Videos:
    -Detail
    -Sound
    -Speed
    -Stabilization
    -Clarity
    -Features
    -Overall

    Overall rating of each:

    Thank you very much!!

I have the S4 and Love it. I would most certainly recommend the S4 over the HTC one. I took some pictures of some trees that the wind blew over today and they turned out very crisp and sharp. You will LOVE the S4. No doubt about it. Have not played with video much yet though

Depends on your style of photography. The S4 has a high pixel density and a much narrower field of view, so if you want to zoom in and pick out detail that may be the better choice. The One has a wider field, and the larger pixels will handle low light better (actual low light, not "dusk just beginning to fall" as GSMArena's comparison used).

I've never used the S4's camera, but for a phone the One's camera is very quick in operation (startup, focus, capture).

In a nutshell: More detail and crisper: S4, better in low light: HTC One. The other stuff mentioned in the details you ask for are dependent on camera software, and there are tons in the Play Store you can use if you don't like the rendering on the stock camera app.
