Help Camera screen is black

I have the LG optimus T p509, the problem i have run into is that my Camera screen is black. I can still press my touch screen and all the items will pop up such as Zoom, focus-Auto, Brightness, etc etc. but the screen is black; I tried switching it to record and it does the same thing ( The screen just stays black). If i try to take a picture it'll take the picture but i'll be black, it's acting like something is blocking the camera lens but there is literally nothing blocking it.
The things i have tried:

-restarting the phone
- updating the phone ( which failed cause it's already updated)
- deleting and re-downloading the camera app​
