Before I bought my captivate, i did lots of research. I recall one review on youtube that showed an app where the background was live feed from the camera and the icons etc were semi transparent on top of the feed. The reviewer said the idea was so that you could text or browse while walking or driving and be able to see whatever was behind the camera... so you had a complete field of view. I thought he said the app came loaded on the phone but I could not find it. Nor have I found any app that works like that... Does anyone know what I am talking about and how I can get it?

There is an app for that, don't know if its on the market but easy enough to sideload. The apparently is called Road SMS for android. Just Google it

Thank you, that is exactly the application I was looking for. However, Samsung didnt load it on the AT&T version of this phone and it is not in the market. AT&T has it locked out so nothing can be installed unless it comes from the market. I found a download of the application and tried to install but I get the message that it is not authorized. Any ways around that?

Sure there is a thread called how to sideload apps on the Captivate, which will do exactly what you are wanting to do..
