Help Camera will not open after update???

Ever since my update my camera only opens up about half the time. When I push the shutter release button or the app icon, the camera will not start. The buttons open a text window for the last person that I texted, how strange is that? A couple of time it just opened up a black screen. When it does open it works much better that before. Can anyone tell me whats up or what I'm doing wrong?
