That's insane!
When I first got my Bionic back last year, I generally got mid 20s up and the same down. Now, since VZW is much more saturated (shakes fist at iPhone ;)), speeds have considerably slowed down. :( Still plenty fast for me.
(I'm going to move this to the general Android Lounge forum :))

You win. I got 35 Mbps/10Mbps. My best not normal.

Your "ping" not bad but well not great like your others. I am not sure if I get over 100ms on Sprint LTE.

So you can use up all of your wireless data allowance even faster now? Then you either get billed extra for going over the usage cap, or your service throttled back to a much slower speed?

Sure. The difference now is he doesn't have to wait to die before he goes over his limit.

I'm on VZW & have unlimited data. :p. Cant beat those speeds though.

Is that a grandfathered-in plan you've got? And isn't Verizon Wireless trying to get people off of that and onto capped or metered or fair-usage data plans. That's what I've read from tech blogs, etc.

"unlimited*"

"* subject to whatever limits we may set."

I'm always a bit suspicious when I see the word "unlimited" when used with carrier's wireless data plans.

Probably depends on what the limit or fair-usage policy might be and what one is doing with it. If it's say a 3GB cap or quota, and one is streaming movies, or something else that might consume a lot of data in a short time. On the other hand Facebook updates might be a bit quicker with high bandwidth.

I have unlimited data and I haven't noticed throttling. I was downloading at 2mb/sec torrenting but I've used like 15 gigs in a few days so maybe I will start to be throttled.

Yeah they are. I got my s3 and I'll never use another 2 year upgrade for a subsidized phone in the near future. I don't expect to for at least the next decade, verizon has spent too much money on their lte network so nothing new should come out any time soon.

Definitely. However, Verizon is legally not allowed to throttle 4G bandwidth. I haven't had Verizon complain about my sometimes "high" bandwidth use, which doesn't include tethering, so it is literal unlimited. For now, at least.

I think you guys are right, I might be getting throttled. I've been getting speed tests ~20 with some outliers ~30.

Btw, Tacoma is like the 7th tower closest to me, which explains the high ping. For some reason (I think Tacoma is pretty poor so not many people use the tower) it gives me the best speeds, whereas the tower closest to me gives good ping but terribad speeds. It got A LOT better though over the past 6 months (I wasn't in the country).

Seattle has so many towers it is incredible. <3 some aspects of Verizon, hate their incompetent friggin employees...I should apply for a job there...

I remember getting into the 40's on a quiet night. Right now, it is prime time, so the data speeds are only around 20MB/s for me. Maybe I'll try some time when it is not so busy. I guess Xmas eve is a rather quiet time.
