About 1 week ago, i started getting a message, "Mobile Network not available". I am on a Prepaid plan. I sent the phone is as the person from the place i went suggested it was a hardware issue.

My device is about 7 months old so I can only guess I will get my device back and only be able to make calls or text if WiFi is available. I’m not yet sure why they aren’t or can’t repair it.

Where did you send it for repair? Had you rooted your phone before you sent it?

I requested service from my Samsung account and they had me send to repair facility in Texas. I have made no changes as I am a simpleton. I am not a very technical person I bought it unlocked through Verizon.

A Verizon stores best siuggestion was to take it to a "Best Buy because sometimes they have Samsung reps available".

That seems a little off to me that you'd get a phone from Verizon and then they'd tell you to get it fixed at best buy. Surely they should fix it themselves? Although since they've kept you up to date with the process it should turn up. If not it's Verizon's problem for making you send it there.

I was pissed at Verizon’s response. I didn’t even bother going to Best Buy, I just filed repair request online. I can only guess that Verizon’s response was because I was on a Prepaid account and not a post paid account.

I went to one Verizon store and after I told her that I had put the SIM card into an old IPhone 6+. and she implied I ruined the SIM card because I did that. I only did it to see if the SIM card was corrupted. In my iPhone it connected fine in iPhone and I could make calls. This person didn’t even touch or look at the phone. She looked up my account and saw it showed an iPhone and not the s8+. This store was out of SIM cards and sent me to another store.

The next store tried a new SIM card and a new SIM card tray. They tested SIM card in floor model and it worked. That is when they determined it was most likely a hardware issue.

It will be disappointing if all I get is my inoperative phone back when the 1 year warranty doesn’t expire until August 2018. I have never dropped or damaged the phone in any way.

So presumably your prepaid Verizon plan doesn't come with Internet data, maybe 200mb of data when you top up on service?what it sound may be the issue is maybe you or an application you downloaded has triggered a feature that automatically or aggressively switches from mobile data to WiFi handover.
Not sure about the tracking chart for the phone other than you should never if avoidable send your device to anyone other than the manufacturerstandard or the Company you bought it at,and if an employee of that company from where I got the device told me to go somewhere else to get it checked ,I would request to speak to a supervisor.

And glancing at the tracking updates it sounds like the technician didn't get the right parts for your phone and waiting for the right one to be reshipped would put him behind schedule so he sent the phone back with a ticket to give you a full refund of the repair service...
But that is merely my opinion and not factual knowledge.

I had and have plenty of data, much more than I ever use in a month. It worked fine until one morning I tried to make a phone call and I got nothing. My account is in good standing with plenty of minutes, data and text.

I don’t think an app would cause anything but I have no clue. I had reset all the settings multiple times and erased the phone.

I am just trying to figure out the logic of not fixing something unless maybe the part won’t arrive for weeks or months.

If I get it returned unfixed, I guess I will just keep filling out repair request on Samsung’s site. I will keep sending it back to them over and over until the warranty expires if they want me to. I like Samsung products but I will go back to Apple if I have to. I never had any trouble with Apple over a warranty repair.

    I appreciate everyone’s suggestions.
