Title says it all...
you have to have root to use the effective ones.
How do I do that?
can't yet until the devs figure out how to root the device.
I would like to know also!
Like Caddyman said, there isn't one. However, I find it helpful to sort by size (by pressing menu) when I am in Applications. That will put the biggest ones on top.
first i will say i only ever cleared caches once and i noticed a little increase in performance but not much.
that said, like bjf posted
go to settings>apps>manage apps
then menu and sort by size
the top 3 or so you can quickly clear and be done.
Awesome, thanks found it!
I didn't see much change in performance from cache clearing, either, but it is important if you need to gauge how much free space your really have.
For example, in the "SD card and phone memory" settings screen it was telling me I only had 40MB free, and I was thinking, wow, I better start deleting some apps before I d/l any new ones. But after I deleted some caches, I had nearly 80MB free! So...
I don't know about you guys but I clear my cache once or twice a day, depending on usage, and I notice an instant improvement on the lag when I clear them. And I can always tell when the caches start to get high because I can see a very noticeable increase in the lag. I may be wrong, but it's something I can see with my own eyes.
some people do see increased performance. some people not so much. difference must be average usage.
Definitely depends on usage... I agree with that fo sho
Yeah but when you sort by size... you are sorting the size of the application not the amount of cache saved.
actually you are correct. so i would just keep a mental note of what you use as far as programs and check them. usually any browser and the album app can get built up.
Also going into the settings of your browser, clearing the cache, stored history, cookies, and passwords makes a world of difference too.
if using dolphin browser, when you are done and want to exit. long press the back arrow key and it will give you the option to clear cache and exit.
Sweet. Good tip. Thanks.
