Not sure how to explain this so it makes sense, but i'll try. Can you turn a backup copy of a ROM into one that's an installable .zip file?

What I mean is with Velocity and other ROM's, they always come in .zip form that I can open in Windows and look around each folder to see what's where. I currently have a ClockWorkMod backup of my rooted stock ROM that only has 5 .img files and an .md5 file. I'd like to take that and turn it into a .zip file like Velocity and others so that I can see the folders and what's in them, mess with some things and then install it as a test ROM sort of as a way to try and teach myself a few things.
