Root Can I help Port the Vibrant 4G?

What does it take to help port CM7 Vibe ROM to the Vibe 4G? Can I help by being a 4G user? I just got into CM and I really wanted to get the 4G but now I feel this hole in my chest where Gingerbread used to be

Please someone enlighten me a little for the "laymen" what it takes to "Port" a device and is it possible to help by having one?
