I had my MyTouch 3G phone shut off a few months ago and have just been using the wifi at my home and work while using another cell phone for actual calls. For the past year I've noticed a considerable lag, freezes, shut downs, force closes, etc that sort of came out of nowhere..until I saw a post talking about how the Froyo 2.2 update has been the reason for all this. My question is, can I roll back to 1.6 without having a service provider or data plan? I have a Google account and what not, but would hate to lose my phone for good by doing this.

Yes, you should be able to do it. Having a plan on a device doesnt impact your user-ability with it. Start googling things revolving around flashing your device to 1.6.

And friggin Froyo... Worst android version ever.
