I have 2 S2s. I got mine in March from BB with 2.3.4 installed. I had read about the 2.3.6 wifi battery issue and have stayed on 2.3.4 and experience fine battery life.

I upgraded my wife's Captivate to an S2 a few weeks ago and she had been occasionally complaining about battery life. I finally looked at it this morning after it went from 100% at 10:00 pm to 8% at 6:00 am and saw the OS taking 97% of the battery and looked further to see that hers came with 2.3.6 already on it (duh - didn't even think about it when I got hers).

I've read about unrooting to 2.3.4, but it seems like most have done that after they took the AT&T update from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6. I don't know if wife's phone was originally loaded 2.3.6 or had 2.3.4 and was factory updated to where I can go back to 2.3.4.

If I can't go back to 2.3.4, I think it's going back to BB (I think I'm still within the 30 day return period). She's had it with the terrible battery performance.

    Thanks

I have 2.3.6 and get a good 10 to 12 hours with light to medium usage. I'm not getting the battery problem everyone complains about. The two Android phones I had before my S2 lasted half as long.

Just how how good is the battery with 2.3.4?

I was actually just coming back to share my experience.

I did roll back to 2.3.4 and did have the wifi loss problem - so I had to do a factory reset to fox that. Luckily this S2 is only a couple weeks old, so there wasn't that much to re-set back up.

With regards to batter life - it's night and day. Like I said - my wife's phone basically ran through the entire battery in 8 hours overnight off the charger with absolutely no use. I'm a pretty light user, but I regularly go 2 days between charges on 2.3.4.

Wow 8 hours with no use? Was the wifi on?

I guess I lied before. Its been almost 10 hours since I took it off the charger I'm just at 79 percent on 2.3.6. This is with light use.

I don't remember if I had wifi on or off that night. It was probably on since it was at home.

It sounds like you're not yet stricken with the 2.3.6 problem if you're battery life is still that high.
