The place I moved to has terrible T-Mobile coverage so before I switch to a different provider... I was wondering if there is an app or something that will enable me to send and receive calls and texts via wifi using my regular phone number?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

    Thanks.

Yes, there are several apps, most either require a payment or to watch ads to earn credit. If you have a Google account here is a free option:

    It does not require root.

If you have a decent broadband connection, maybe think about requesting one of T-Mobile's 'CellSpots'. A typical femtocell, or using T-Mobile's name CellSpot, just needs to a typical Ethernet cable to be plugged into a router, and of course a power cord/adapter along with locating the CellSpot by on outward facing window so it can receive a GPS signal, and that should give your home at least usable T-Mobile coverage to use your phone normally.
