    Hi all.

I've rooted my x8 in order to use link2sd as I was fed up being limited by the number of apps I could install

    I have a Sandisk 8GB sd card formatted in 7GB FAT32 + 1GB ext2.

Only recently, I noticed that any files I add/remove from /sdcard aren't actually modified whether using USB storage or using android explorer.

If I delete from the PC when connected through USB, it's actually deleted but once disconnected from PC, the files still remain there. Same thing happens when using explorer OR root explorer, files are deleted and then reappears. I tried a chkdsk and no errors reported.

I'm not sure what's going on

    Did you check the permissions
    Try changing the sdcard permissions

In terminal emulator or adb with root execute
    chmod 777 /sdcard

    #chmod 777 /sdcard
unable to chmod /sdcard: Read-only file system

What ownership and group should /sdcard be

    I have at the moment
d---rwxr-x system sdcard_rw date time sdcard

SD card should be in r/w mode not r/o mode

lrwxrwxrwx root root date time sdcard
    are my permissions currently

Mount SD card in r/w mode
    using
    #mount -o rw,remount /sdcard
    OR
    #busybox mount -o rw,remount /sdcard

Thanks for the suggestion. I found out the problem. I decided to copy all data from the SDcard to PC, reformat the SD card from the phone, then copy back but the reformatting kept failing without any errors, simply by not giving the sdcard information.

I plugged the Sd card in a reader to reformat the FAT32 but it failed with Invalid media or Track 0 bad - disk unusable. I couldn't delete, erase, reformat. After running a scan on the card, it found that the card is getting lots of unrecoverable errors.

Ordered a new SD card. Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.

    Cheers
