I have an HTC Evo and am unable to root it. Not even with z4Root. I can get a temporary root to take, but not a permanent root...Which makes it impossible to flash a custom rom. Does anyone know how to overcome this? The Epic roots just fine...but not the evo. Thanks in advance!!!

Sounds like you made a mistake somewhere along the way. If I'm not mistaken, you prob haven't unlocked nand yet.

Have you read the Rooting for Dummies guide? If so, and you followed all those steps, how far did unrevoked actually get?

you need the drivers installed for unrevoked to work

Yes your rooting for dummies(not that I am a dummy) worked like a charm! I am now rooted. Does anyone know a good rom for gingerbread? Preferably with a link to download?

Looks like the OP got it rooted via the Rooting for Dummies thread...:)

Glad to hear you got rooted!

This might be a good place to start your research on Gingerbread.
