Can the universal root app be used to root Froyo on the Mytouch 3G

    Is it possible to root Froyo that was just pushed to the mytouch 3g phone with universal root app?

    how do you root the mytouch 3g that has 2.2 on it? anyone?

    use the app superoneclick it worked for my mytouch 3g (original w/o jack inpute)

    Cyanogen works like a champ, my phone's never run faster (see link gwcaton posted)

    Because of the fact that when you root your phone this method, it totally overrides the 2.2 OS and turns it to 2.1, BUT hear me out, your phone WILL work better by the end, even better than it did with Froyo. The Cyanogen ROM makes your phone (at least it did with both mine and my uncle's phone) MUCH more efficient, and you can actually use live wallpapers as well as overclock the CPU (requires you to buy an app for $2 on the market, but it's worth it). Totally worth rooting a Mytouch this way IMO.
