For example, I'm on revolution and I'm tempted to give Sicopat's rom a go, but there are certain tweaks I like on both.

For example Sicopat has a nice circle battery theme, which is a JKay theme. Revolution also use JKay themes, but this particular theme is not available in Revolution's Kitchen app.

Revolution has some nice animation effects, eg when opening menus, closing etc. so could these be installed over Sicopats?

I would imagine there is more chance if the mods are both for a particular firmware version Eg. KH3, but has anyone tried doing something like this before?

I'm tempted to update Revolution with Sicopat's circle battery but worried in case I bugger the thing up.

Sicopat's rom is odexed and Revolutions is deodexed so it would be difficult. It would be easier to port things from sicopats rom to revolutions. Deodexed roms are easier to theme.
Is it just the battery icons you want from sicopat's rom?

Most themes say what roms they will work on. Morph themes work on most roms because they just place things already in the system and framework and not just replace the full app.

Also UOT Kitchen is good for themes. You upload your own system and framework apps and it adds them changes to them (deodexed only)

Thanks you 2. Will half a pint each suffice? :D

I might have a little dabble at home later.....

    Important things to watch for:

Odexed vs deodexed: mods/themes for one won't work on t'other.

Firmware version: SystemUI.apk, framework-res.apk and twframework.apk change from version to version. Always confirm that any mod will work on e.g. KG6 before trying to install it.

Incompatibility between mods: if two mods both replace one of the aforementioned framework files, only the most-recent will apply. That's why God (or rather Stericson) invented.....

MetaMorph: this is the Holy Grail, allowing mods to be copied into the framework files "on-the-fly".

So to install these tweaks as I understand it, its a "install zip from sdcard" in CWM.
Whats the difference between this, and the "install update.zip" option in CWM?

Yes its install zip from sdcard. Not sure about the update.zip? When I had my desire it was a function from android recovery that could be used to update firmware. It had to be official and it had to be named update.zip to work. Maybe it is the same function in SGS2?
