I updated my moment to the official 2.1 firmware from Sprint yesterday.

So far so good!

I've looked in the menus, but can't find a setting for it. Does anyone know a way to disable the fade in/out of the screen when unlocking or putting the device back to sleep?

I use No Lock --only time I have to slide unlock is first time aftr rebooting phone.

I like NO LOCK, but since I never recharge but rather swap batteries, I was constently having to start NO LOCK after every reboot, so I just gave up and unintalled it. The "start on boot" option never worked on 1.5 -- does it work with the new 2.1?

I don't mind the slide to unlock, but the fade effect looks janky because it isn't a smooth fade. I'd rather have it just turn the display on/off.

I've noticed that on 2.1 if your screen turns off from the delay you can push end really quick and it comes back on. I hated when I had to press menu because I was reading something. I assumed it was because of the fade in/out. If it is then I love the fade in/out.

I absolutely understand your inquiry, on top of that, I was thrilled to hear of a slide lock feature w/ eclair update, however that was before I seen how faulty it is!!

#1 - It never wants to slide smoothly at first touch and slide!

#2 - If it is locked on the Samsung Moment, all you have to do is open the kick-out Keyboard and it auto-unlocks itself!!

#3 - It sucks!

My relief: Use Lock 2.0 they have a demo, but it too sucks! Use the pay version, its $1.99 & worth it, (if your cheap, there are APK files out there you can utilize). Now that you have that installed, load app>from lock 2.0 locked screen goto>menu>settings>select "Disable system screen lock, and you can also unselect animation as well as auto-lock features, but make sure that if you run a task killer to ignore lock 2.0 - also from the lock screen you can control mp3 player if using and phone locks - The app is a lil big per megs, but doesnt use alot of mem. Quite nifty!! - After a power cycle you have to re-initiate Lock 2.0, but your settings are saved. There are also different Lock wallpapers, sounds, and also Battery wallpapers for when you are charging your device, some of these files can be a bit big, but can be nice to customize Lock 2.0.

Let me know if this was helpful or if you liked this or not? Thanks
