Can you get rid of the Swipe Lock on Galaxy S3?

I'm new with Android so bare with my newbie question. I would like to have my screen lock only be the Swipe Pattern. I figured out how to set up the swipe pattern lock but now I have to first swipe the screen from left to right and then it asks me to swipe my pattern. So, basically I have to do two things to get the phone on. I would like to just have the swipe pattern to unlock it. Is there any way to turn off the basic swipe from left to right?

Yeah, it's pretty simple.

Go to Settings > Lock Screen > uncheck "With swipe lock"

That should do the trick. It may be a bit different for you, as I've noticed that the settings UI of the GS3 slightly varies by carrier.
