Can you root after gingerbread?

Hello, I have the cricket indulge rooted with froyo that I would like to upgrade to gingerbread...but I can't seem to find out if you're able to root after the update....I have asked in other forums but have never gotten a concrete answer...hopefully, here I will....

Can I use the same method I used to root it the first time or is it a lost cause altogether?
