Root Can you root without a PC?

Your PC can assist you with moving needed files to your phone but as far as I know you cannot apply the actual update.zip directly through your PC without phone interaction. If you haven't already, check out:

Im reading that post now. But my main question is. I dont have access to a PC at work right now. I have spare time and i would like to do this with my phone. Is it possible to do a root without using a PC at all??

Oops, I read your post wrong and assumed (my bad) that you wanted to root just with a PC. You can download the needed files using your phones browser and issue the adb commands using a terminal emulator (make sure you have a terminal program loaded from the market) and use a program like Astro file manger to move the needed files to the root of your SD card. I would wait and do it with a PC available in case you run into problems.

What are you on? Stock 2.1 OTA? If so then no you can't do it without a PC.

Good point (that's why moderators get paid the big $$$). If you are running 2.1 OTA you need to use RSD Lite from a PC
