So I have never rooted my phone before. I am running 2.27.651.6. I am trying to follow the instructions here to install Fresh Rom 2.1.2.

When I turn my phone off and try to boot into recovery mode by holding down the Home and Power buttons, I get a picture of a phone with a little red exclamation point beside it that will not go away. I eventually had to take the battery out of the back of it to get it to go away. Put the battery back in and it works fine but I would really like to install that Rom.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

    Thank you!

You have to root before you can install a ROM. Look up near the top of this forum. You'll see a reference for rooting 2.1. Being as you are running the .6, you will need to run the .5 RUU. Refer to the links given and read.
