    I did a factory reset on my Galaxy Tab 8.9 running Android 3.2. Firstly the market app would not work, so I transferred a version of Google Play for 3.2 and installed it.

    However, even though I am signed in to my Google account, I cannot install any apps from Google Play as I get an error reporting I need to sign in to my Google account!! This message does not lead on to anywhere that I can sign in.

    Thanks for this - 2 problems encountered;
    1) cached data was not listed under storage, just bars showing space taken up by various categories, so I could not clear cached data
    2) Google Play services is not listed under apps on my device
    I followed your instructions, but could not deal with cached data or Google Play services, and that, presumably, is why I got the same error as before when trying to install an app - what now?

    Have you checked all the tabs of the app manager section? When you open it, it would show up under the downloads tab. You have to swipe right a couple of times to see all apps.

    I cannot get past the authentificaton error.

    In Manage Applications there is no Disabled App tab
    Google Play Services is not listed under applications or running services
    There is no cached data section under storage

    I have cleared cache and data and forced stop on all the other apps and services, but to no avail

    Perhaps there is something else I need to install - I have only com.android.vending-4.6.16.apk - maybe wrong version?

    o_O No, I can't get around this problem....

    Very frustrating, as before I did a factory reset everything was fine. Maybe Android 3.2 is just too out of date to function now?

    I did look into installing Android 4.x, but I couldn't assemble necessary software, some links led nowhere, and it was getting a bit too technical and difficult for me. Any further suggestions welcome - like, sell it on eBay?!
