Hey there . I am new to this forum and i do know how they work so i'll just get straight to the point .
So this morning my lil bro was using my phone . he downloaded almost half of the games play store has to offer ( he spent about 60 of my 128GB of storage ) in one morning . I don't know if this really has to do with the problem , but i thought it was a system overload or something . Btw my phone is a Google pixel 2 , i have had it for around a year and 3 months ... the same problem happened to my samsung J5 in 2017 ... but i couldn't fix it ...

Anyway at around 1pm the battery died , i put it in charge and me being stupid i turned on the phone instantly since my bro was whining . I gave it to him and told him to use it while it was plugged in . Of course , he didn't listen .. he took it out .. potentially breaking the charger and then using it to download the remaining half of the play store .. the battery died within 8 minutes .. i told him just to leave the phone ... later around 3pm i tried to use the phone . Sadly it didn't turn on ... i was confused , usually my phone would be around 70% at the least by now ... i tried checking if it was unplugged or something .. i tried checking if the charger was broken .. everything ...

Around 7 I lost all hope .. for three damn hours i tried everything ... i was gonna contact support but guess what .... i don't have a phone to use due to my brother using it like there was no tomorrow . And apparently they are good for nothing .
So i will now explain what is happening . i have tried many solutions on YouTube and none of them worked . But i don't know how somehow after countless hours of trial and error i turned on the phone .. i was so excited i didn't think of at least putting on a battery saver or safe mode ... it turned of instantly . anyway so i tried the thing where you have to reboot it and stuff and nothing worked .. when i try to go the boot menu using power button and the volume up/ down it doesn't take me to the boot menu . instead it pops up the battery logo and disappears a second after .. i'm not really sure how to turn it off completely but when i finally get on the boot menu , i click on recovery mode and it goes through a mini BSOD / boot loop and goes back ... i really cannot live without my phone .. please reply with a adequate answer ASAP.. do i need a new charger ... is it a problem with my hardware or software .... So basically my phone won't turn on anymore ...
My phone is Inevitable , i can't live without it lmao ....

How long are you leaving it on the charger? I would give at last a few hours before even touching it.

Do you have access to another USB-C charger? Or even a standard USB-A charger? USB-A will charge more slowly but it also bypasses a lot of the complicated negotiations that are required for USB-C charging.

You may want to pick one up. That's a much cheaper troubleshooting step than trying to have the battery replaced. :D

That said, the Pixel 2 should have a two-year warranty if I'm remembering correctly. You may want to reach out to Pixel Support to see if they can help you out:

Note that you will need to provide a phone number where they can reach you; you might need to borrow a phone for that if necessary.

It the battery is completely discharged it can go into a safe charging mode for the first few percent. I've seen some sit dead for upwards of 24 hours for the first 5% or so, then charge normally. Some sciency guy explained it for me once, but that part went over my head, but the part that stuck is that completely dead is bad and to prevent damage it charges from completely dead to mostly dead (but useable and safe to charge) very slowly.

While pursuing other avenues like getting a new charger or contacting customer service, leave it on the charger and don't touch it, at least overnight. See if it comes back to life.

If you just want to try another charger, use a USB A-to-C cable to connect the phone to a USB port on the back of your PC. It will charge more slowly than a proper wall charger but it should at least make some progress.

+1 on the slow charge from a USB slot on a running PC.

A USB A-to-C cable has a USB-C connector (little oval thing) on one end and a USB-A connector (larger rectangular thing) on the other. It doesn't support rapid charging but will bypass the complexity of the USB Power Delivery negotiations which are required for a rapid charge.

I wouldn't use that. USB PD is very complex, and a lot of those "universal" chargers take shortcuts and don't implement the specification correctly. This can cause devices to charge less efficiently than they should - or even cause permanent damage to the phone's charging circuitry.

Your best bet is to always charge using the original Google charger which came with the phone.

My Pixel 2 charges fine with my 2018 Macbook Pro's charger (which is great because I have one fewer charger to carry when travelling). I'd assume it would be fine with a charger that's specified for USB PD and from a reputable manufacturer. But yeah, I would be a little fussy who I bought chargers from.

In fact the Pixel 2 may not technically rapid charge from a USB-A charger but in practice it's still pretty fast (we have a couple of Anker's around the house). If it's really discharged flat it might need a good while though, especially if using a computer USB port.
