Hello. Connecting my Nexus 7 via USB, it shows up fine as an icon in 'My Computer', however there's nothing in the folder, and I can't copy anything to it. When I try to drag files (jpg, gif, etc) to the Nexus 7, the cursor shows a circle with red line, indicating that it can't copy anything there.

I do have Windows Media Player 11 installed on a WinXP Pro machine.

    Please advise.

Hi, welcome to the forums! :ciao: Could you tell me which protocol you're using for the connection (MTP or PTP)?

Thanks for your reply. I don't know which protocol. I just connected the Nexus 7 to my WinXP Pro computer using USB. How can I tell?

Settings > Storage > the button in the top right corner > USB Computer Connection.
Also, could you check if there are any devices listed in Device Manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc on your PC) that have problems?

Thank you for your reply. The USB Computer Connection shows Media Device (MTP) checked. In Device Manager on the PC, all devices are OK, there are no issues.

Does the device show up anywhere in Device Manager?

Yes, it appears under 'Portable Devices' -> 'Nexus 7'. Please advise.

Do you have service pack 3? Seems like a problem with Windows.

What happens if you toggle the connection on your N7 to ptp then back to mtp?

Thank you, toggling to PTP and then back to MTP did the trick!
