When I long press to delete widgets or shortcuts, they open instead of giving me the option to delete. Has any one else seen this? I'm on stock

When you long press the icon for 2 to 3 seconds, you should get a vibration. A remove button should pop up over the bottom bar with the phone button. Then just just drag the icon to remove area. If it doesn't work try restarting your phone and doing it again.

That is a weird problem, I haven't experienced it.

I think radio shack may have given me a refurb. A restart didn't help.

When you long press on a blank area of one your home screens does the add to home screen pop up? (the same screen as hitting the plus from the home screen)

Ok, this is a strange case. It seems that the long press works at the top portion of the screen but not at rr bottom. I can add/remove widgets from the top portion off the screen, but not from the bottom.

What about if you drag an icon from the top to the bottom. Does it just get stuck there when you drop it and you can't move it again? Have you checked to see if it's all icons or just the ones you're trying to get rid of?

That's really weird you could try just starting from a clean slate by hitting menu --> scenes --> clean slate, and seeing if you can get the screens the way you want like that, but you really should't have to do that. Sounds like your phone might just be defective and you need to take it back to the shack

Clean slate didn't work. I'll have to take it back.

Some more strangeness for you. The long press works in the browser, even at the bottom.

A factoryreset seems to have corrected it.

I had this same problem with a search widget. If you clear all the programs/other widgets from that Home screen, you can long-press anywhere on it and it will still select the only remaining object.

My problem was that the search widget was at the top, but the long-press only wanted to let me add programs/widgets. So I just long-pressed on the bottom portion and it auto-selected the stuck widget, allowing me to drag-to-remove it.

It's a lot better solution that going the clean slate route. Especially for me on the Incredible, where I have custom scenes with 7 home screens. That would be a hassle to reset.

    Hope this info helps.

I accidentally added the music widget to my home screen. When I long press and drag it to the trash can at the bottom it still won't delete. Can anyone help me please?

this happen to me when I use a app for notes. it put two icons on the desk top the main and then a short cut. and short was put on a different screen :(so when i deleted the main app it left the short cut.which couldn't remove without doing a factory reset.

The "remove area" is gray rectangular box with an upward pointing triangle in it. After you've selected the shortcut you want to delete, drag it towards that rectangle. It will turn red and show a trash symbol on it.
