I think an update was made to my waze [ie] the waze icon used to be white and is now blue.
anyhow, I can no longer display the ''Navigate'' icon so that I can change my destination?
    please advise.
my phone is a Samsung with an Android operating system.

Welcome to Waze 4.0! Once you open Waze, tap the little blue icon in the lower left corner and from there you can set your destination.

    thanks chief,
yes, simply tapping on the little blue icon in the lower left corner is the way i have been used to doing it [for a month or two now since starting to use waze] ... however, that no longer works?
any more help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

No. Nothing will change if you install and uninstall. You'll still get the new interface.

There is no navigate icon anymore. That just adds another step. Simply tap the blue icon on the lower left. A menu will popup. There you'll see a search bar. Tap that and type your destination and press go.

another question if I may ...
how can a no longer needed destination be deleted from the destination list?

I haven't checked that part yet. On experience it just used to be a history, showing the last 7 or so destinations, then it disappears from the list once it's overwritten by succeeding destinations. No idea if they changed that.

FOUND IT. No need to delete all destinations.

To delete a single destination entry, swipe it to the right and tap the trash can that appears. Done!
