new to android. got one as part of a "credit rebuilding" thingy. have tried installing a few apps from google play. however, in spite of apps listing as being "installed" I can't find them anywhere. And yes, I have checked the app box and they aren't there.

    1. Download the Forums for Android™ app!

"credit rebuilding thingy"? What's that about, Lucky Patcher or something? And what phone have you actually got there. If you're trying to paid apps for nothing, i.e. piracy, we can't assist, sorry.

Once you get into the Google Play Store app, slide from the Left side of the screen to the Right side.
that will bring out the menu to see "My Apps", when you touch that, it will show what is on your phone. click on the image to see a larger version.

On My Phone, since I have "Auto Updates" turned OFF, you will note it wants me to Update all of them.... to hell with that, "If it ain't broke, don't be fixing it until it is"...

    A) rebuilding my credit with the assist of a company.
    B) using my iPhone to post. As I stated the issue I am having is with my new android TABLET. So do NOT assume I am trying to pirate anything!
    C) can't even FIND the apps to manage them.
    D) I can't get the google play store to open. I click the app and it closes immediately

Ah you want to improve your credit rating. Didn't know you could do that with a phone. Alhough FWIW I've never had to borrow or take out a loan anyway, so have no idea what my credit rating is. :)

If the Play Store is just crashing and won't run at all, have you tried doing a factory reset on it? If it persists, sounds like it's not right, and might be worth seeking warranty service. I assume it's not rooted, or otherwise modified or hacked.

On your phone, go to settings-applications. Depending on phone brand/model,you should see a list of downloaded Apps.

How do I do a factory reset on a new TABLET. Not PHONE.

My PHONE has nothing at all to do with my initial query.
And the only reason I mentioned the whole credit thing was in case the company can do a limit on what I can do.
I DON'T KNOW!!! That is why I am asking here

OK, so what device have you actually got there, make and model, and then we might be able to tell you. Because exact the method for doing a reset can vary by device to device.

Thank you!!! All I know right now is that I have an android tablet 4. Something or other. Can you help me find the exact info you need?

TBH after this experience I can understand why people tell me forums are just plain NASTY!
The assumptions and rudeness are truly unreal for those just trying to get help.

I just reread this entire thread, and I did not see anything at all that even comes close to being nasty.
I do not know your expertise with the English language, or even if you live outside the USA.... but I sense a problem with you interpreting what we are telling you and you being willing to act on it.

you have not given us much of any kind of information to base any intelligent diagnosis on.

We ask questions as to what device you have for a reason. They do not all work the same.
    • What make, model of device to you have?
    • What carrier are you using.
    • What version of Android is on the device.

at least that much will help and give us a starting point to assist you.

With this post, you are getting too wound up over nothing.
Us saying 'phone' just means the DEVICE, and that is why when I post, I use the word "device".... because my short memory is short.... I forget what we are talking about....

as for your credit situation? that should have not been mentioned at all....
it has nothing to do with whether or not your Android Tablet works, or does not work.

You want us to tell you how to reset it? How can we know? You have not provided us with one piece of useful information as to what DEVICE you are trying to make work.

No info, no help, and I am done.

Hmm, sorry you feel that way but tbh I can't see anything that was particularly rude, although there have been some assumptions made. Don't take this the wrong way either but we are not mind readers, and in an attempt to help some assumptions or guesses were made to get you on the right track.

There is some basic information you can provide starting with the make and model of your new tablet. Do you have the box or packaging for it that will tell you?

Or on the device if you can find Settings in the app drawer, press that and scroll to the bottom. There should be an option that says something like About or About Tablet, press that and see if there are entries for make, model and software version (Android software version) and post back. We will then know what device you have and will be in a better position to help.

Remember, none of us are paid or are under any obligation to help on here. I can't speak for others but I do it as a way of repaying for the help I got when I first started on my Android journey. You will be able to get help but not without providing info we can work with.

"Android tablet 4", that sounds like a no-name Chinese tablet. You should find the option to factory reset it in the settings menu somewhere. However if Google Play is still crashing after that, then I would suggest it's actually faulty, possibly buggy or damaged firmware. And it would need to be reloaded. So I think you might need to contact whomever supplied it, and see if they can do or know anything, such as exchanging it.

BTW nothing nasty from me and thanks for stating what "credit building" actuality meant here. :) FYI we do get a lot of requests on here about how to get app purchases and game credit for free, with things like Lucky Patcher. Which we do take a very dim view of.
