Root Can't get past /!\

I'm trying to access my restore menu. When I see the triangle with the ! in it, Vol+ and Camera button do nothing. I just noticed that for some reason whenever I turn the phone off, I get a message that says "SD Card Safe to Remove", and when I turn the phone on and the OS loads, it tells me "Preparing SD card". Now I don't reboot very often, so this could be completely normal.

Any idea why I wouldn't be able to get past the Triangle ! screen?

thanks to whoever helped me out in irc. i took the battery out and that seemed to fix the issue.
